Hi! My name is Kaela Kono. And I am an Independent Stylist for Stella & Dot.
Before jumping into my introduction, I want to take a moment to say thank you for taking the time to read my BLOG.
And this is my WHY….
Stella & Dot is a great opportunity for women who want to help other women network & give back to their communities. I think for women, it is sometimes more difficult to meet other successful business women and gain such things as mentor-ship or practical internships.
One of the great things about Stella & Dot is that there is a special college entrepreneur internship & scholarship program specially aimed at helping young ladies/or men gain meaningful experience with the Corporate office. And for every new stylist that does join, they receive personal calls with the CEO, directive, and administrative staff.
Since the company is still small I think that anyone who seizes the opportunity early will be surprised with how well we do since Stella & Dot has not hit their “tipping point” yet. Especially in Southern Cali, I think the company WILL explode since most of the women in Stella & Dot are in other areas across the US.
No doubt, in the past I was approached by my friends who wanted me to sign up as their “rep” so I could be a part of their structured direct sales companies. Noteably, I always said “no way!” after researching whatever company they were asking me to sign up for. Why did I always used to say “no?”….
….Bottom line, I am always VERY, VERY apprehensive and a skeptic of any direct sales program. Partly because the products were stupid (i.e. too many skincare shams, cable services, financial planning etc..). And, in general because I don’t like selling things to people.
I am all about nurturing long-term, honest, and meaningful relationships and I didn’t think many sales people/companies held the same values. As you probably know since you are in business, most often, a company’s culture & values come from the top.
However, after months of researching Stella & Dot-– following them in the news, magazines, on Oprah etc., I realized that Stella & Dot are different. They are spending millions on R&D, the majority of their profits get re-distributed to the stylist, and to support the Stella & Dot foundation.
Okay, I am rambling but all in all, I wanted to emphasize that while I wouldn’t mind earning extra money too, my purpose for getting involved with Stella & Dot is due to to the fact that I truely believe it is a great opportunity for women who have ever considered owning their own business. And, I miss hanging out with friends & getting to know new people.
By being a Stylist I feel like I will have the opportunity to reconnect with the people I haven’t seen in awhile, and hopefully help other women to do something that’s fun & meaningful. I love to help others, so I would be estatic to work with other women & help them in any way possible 🙂
